Car Elected as Member of the National Academy of Sciences

Roberto Car, the Ralph W. *31 Dornte Professor in Chemistry and the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials, has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences for his distinguished achievements in scientific research.
Membership is widely considered one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive and can only be achieved by election. Today the National Academy of Sciences announced the election of 84 new members and 21 foreign associates from 14 countries around the world. In total, the NAS has 2,291 active members and 465 foreign associates.
