Fluorine Chemistry: Basic to Clinic

The beneficial influence of fluorine substitution is unquestionable in drug discovery. Numerous fluorine-containing sub-motifs are employed, each fulfilling a distinct function to improve drug efficacy. It is reasonable to anticipate that structural diversity in 18F-tagging could also have a positive impact on radiotracer’s development for Positron Emission Tomography imaging. This lecture will discuss how we are intending to expand the range of 18F-tags for labeling, with radiochemistry inspired from the various synthetic catalytic manifolds exploited for late stage fluoro- functionalization.
