Dept of Chemistry Town Hall Meeting

Event
Fri, Jul. 10, 2020, 12:00pm
Zoom Webinar
Host: Greg Scholes and Paul Chirik

The Department of Chemistry will host a one-hour Town Hall with new Department Chair Greg Scholes and new Associate Chair Paul Chirik for all undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs on Friday, July 10 at 12 noon. A zoom link will be forwarded to the student community.

“We want to let students know that we’re open to listening to them and understanding what matters to them. We also want to tell them a little bit about what goes on at the faculty level and what the plans are for the department,” said Scholes, the William S. Tod Professor of Chemistry. “It’s an information exchange and an introduction to say, ‘I’m Greg, this is Paul, and this is the kind of thing we’re hoping to do over the next few years.’ ”

Maura Matvey, assistant to the chair, is gathering questions for the event. So far, she has received queries on COVID-19 and the phased resumption of research, the impact of the pandemic on GREs and other logistical matters, and the issue of diversity in the department.

Those who would like to submit questions before the Town Hall should contact Matvey. An anonymous submission form is available upon request.
