Drawing Inspiration from Nature’s Reactions and Receptors

The complexity and functional sophistication of natural products and their receptors continues to challenge and inspire chemists. I will present out latest efforts in natural product chemistry with an emphasis on biomimetic syntheses. Subsequently, I will show how progress in chemical synthesis and biochemical engineering can be used to create synthetic photoreceptors that can be employed in complex organisms.
