Research Focus
Sandra Lee Knowles received her B.S. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the California Institute of Technology as a National Physical Science Consortium Graduate Research Fellow. She joined Merck & Co. Inc. as a senior research chemist in Discovery Chemistry in Boston, MA. After 14 years at Merck, Dr. Knowles was a principal scientist in Process Research in Rahway, NJ and an inventor on 15 patents. In 2021, she decided to pursue a teaching career to mentor the next generation of young scientists.
